Class Expectations

Academic integrity is a major issue in the the academic world. I expect all my students to act with integrity in this regard. Breaking the bond of trust that exists in this class through cheating, plagiarism or academic dishonesty in any form will result in consequences ranging from a zero on the assignment to possible expulsion from school.

1. Papers and assignments are to be written in third person and past tense unless otherwise instructed.

2. All assignments are due at the beginning of the period on the day they are to be collected.

3. "My printer is broken" is not an excuse. Email it to me, copy it to a disk or hand write it. "I forgot we had class today" is never an excuse.

4. Anyone showing up without an assignment will not be allowed in class until it is completed. If there are special circumstances call me or see me before school begins.

5. Everyone is expected to participate in class discussions.

6. No food or drinks in the classroom.

7. There are no surprises, all tests, quizzes and papers are marked on the course calendar. The calendar is given out at the beginning of each month, is posted on the bulletin board and is on the course webpage. The exception being if discussion lags, unannounced reading quizzes may need to be given to inspire participation.

8. Cell phones are to be turned off and out of sight - no exceptions.

9. No whining.

10. Don't be annoying.

11. Have fun!!

Grading Policy

Grades are based on the average of tests, quizzes and all written work. Class participation is expected and will be given a grade. A percentage is assigned to each test, quiz or paper. Examples : quiz may equal 25% of a test. Essay equals a test. Research paper equals two tests.
