About Cathy

Cathy was born June 13, 1958 in Exeter, N.H. to second generation New England school masters As such , she was condemned to a life of following the Boston Red Sox and other New England teams. After graduation in 1976 from Phillips Exeter Academy, Cathy moved to Northampton, Massachusetts where she graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in French and Spanish Literature and many scars from four years of Varsity soccer and basketball.

Her two older brothers, David and Scott Dunbar, having found their schools at which to teach, Cathy accepted a position teaching French at Cushing Academy where she met her future husband Tom Harrison, Chemistry teacher extraordinaire. After adopting his two young sons and producing a daughter of her own, Cathy spent a year in Paris, France earning her Masters degree in French through Middlebury College. After the graduation of her two sons, Josh and Andy, Cathy and Tom searched for the best school for their daughter , Becky (SSFS '01) and accepted positions at Sandy Spring Friends School in 1994. Cathy currently resides on campus with her husband , Tom and their playful dog, Bonnie. She continues to follow her passion for soccer by playing in four different leagues and her new found interest in playing set drums and percussion by joining the pit orchestra for SSFS productions and jazz ensemble. Cathy and Tom can be found with their son, Andy ( also a teacher), each Sunday morning in the Worship Band at Christ Fellowship Church.
