Eighth Grade

In eighth grade, level 1C, students continue where they left off in seventh grade French.  Students review the basics of grammar and vocabulary that they have studied up to this point.   Students continue to develop their language skills by actively participating in classroom activities and conversations in French.  These activities include skits, oral interviews, spontaneous conversations, written descriptions, and projects on French sports, cultural activities, and health. Students have class in the computer lab approximately once a week to take advantage of the language learning software and of the many sources for research and language learning that exist on the Internet.  Field trips to events, embassies, museums, or French restaurants may be taken.  Students also celebrate French holidays, learn more about francophone customs in various countries, read short stories in French, and watch a classic French film.   Eighth grade students are once again eligible to participate in the trip to France.  Successful completion of eighth grade French and permission of the teacher mean that a student may enter directly into French II in the ninth grade.
