INTRODUCING MANAGER ESPA LOAIZA ('11)
Sandy Spring, MD (Aug '08) -- Coach Polón is proud to introduce Espa Loaiza ('11) as the squad's new Manager. Espa brings to the program tremendous enthusiasm, commitment and organization, to go along with an exceptionally kind disposition and generous nature. In addition, this rising leader harbors an intrinsic team-first attitude honed through her collaborative experiences as a member of the SSFS Women’s Soccer and Lacrosse Teams, as well as a horseback riding teacher and trainer. Espa's primary responsibilities will include pre and post-game, as well as practice field equipment and sideline, preparations, game-day statistician and timekeeper, maintaining team rosters, monitoring the first-aid kit, as well as serving as liaison, ambassador and hostess for visiting opponents, referees and media sources. To underscore Coach Polón's value of this staff position, the Men's Varsity Soccer Team has
only had four Manager's during his thirteen-year tenure: Kelly Mundell ('99), Angelica Cota ('00-'02), Michelle Bennett ('03-'04), and Rachel Stevens ('05-'06). Congratulations Espa! Welcome aboard!

LEADERSHIP TRINITY SET FOR 2008
Sandy Spring, MD (Jun '08) -- Announced at the final session of this winter's SSFS Sunday Soccer, and recently posted on this very homepage, rising senior Chris Jones ('09) will wear the Captain's armband for the 2008 men's varsity soccer campaign. Flanking him on either side, to form a veteran leadership trinity, will be Assistant Captains Sam Schneider ('09) and Luke Savonis ('10). In only three seasons, Sam (2007 All-PVAC 1st Team & 2006 Tournament MVP) already has earned four program records for keepers, including 32 regular season and playoff shutouts. Luke, a rising junior and devoted year-round soccer player, has played in 40 varsity games the past two seasons, registering 36 points on 17 goals and 2 assists as an underclassman. Together this experienced trio and eligible Ring-of-Honor candidates were integral in helping SSFS win the 2006 PVAC League & Tournament Championships. With the full endorsement of the coaching staff and the support of their teammates, this vocal, weathered, and soccer savvy trio is sure to follow in the tradition of standout SSFS Men's Varsity Soccer leaders. Congratulations gentlemen!
