The Physical Education Curriculum

The Physical Education program for grades Pre-K through 5 is based on the introduction and practice of basic skills and concepts. These skills include:

  • Locomotor movement (traveling skills): walking, running, sliding, galloping, skipping, jumping, hopping, leaping, climbing and crawling
  • Space Awareness: over, under, behind, alongside, through, left, right, around, curved and zigzag
  • Manipulative skills: throwing, catching, striking, kicking, rolling, trapping, bouncing, tossing and object handling
  • Stabilizing skills: balancing, stretching, twisting, turning, bending, curling, stopping, landing, swinging, swaying, pushing, pulling and dodging
  • Rhythm and basic dance skills: line dancing, creative movement, aerobic dance, step aerobics, jump rope patterns and basic tumbling acts

Watch for information about the health curriculum being implemented on a monthly basis this year! This curriculum will enrich the students' knowledge in both fitness and nutrition.
