Grading will be based on an average of the following grades:


1. quiz grades (1-2 per week) 20%

Possible Extra Credit

WRITE A REVIEW
You could visit an exhibition of your choice and write a review. If you are unable to travel to a museum, you could view an online exhibition instead. Or you could write a review of a play or movie that pertains to the class.

CARTOON OR NEWSPAPER ARTICLE REVIEW
You could bring into class a cartoon or newspaper article that is art related. You would be asked to explain the cartoon or article and give a personal opinion. Write a paragraph. What is the main idea of the cartoon or article? How is it related to the course? What did you learn from it? Do you agree?

WEBSITES
Share a website with the class that you found particularly helpful. Be sure to check your source!

DANCE
Research a dance from the time period we are studying. Bring in music appropriate to the dance. Maybe try to teach the class a step or two!

ART PROJECT
Create a work of art related tot he time period we are studying. For example you could paint a Byzantine icon, make an impressionist landscape, draw a building using Renaissance perspective.

RESEARCH THE TIME PERIOD
Research an aspect of the time period we are studying that we only briefly touch upon in class. For example, we mention the Crusades in medieval art…find out more and write a report. Or what was the role of women in medieval society? What kinds of technology were available to the Impressionists? Share wit the class what you have learned.

WRITE MUSIC
Write your own piece of music that relates the music we discussed in class. Or play a piece of music on piano, guitar, etc.
